I designed the screens for the Android version of the Kum&Go &Rewards loyalty app, as well as some of the iOS screens and responsive web flows. The app functions as an access point for customers to sign up for the rewards program, manage and redeem their earned rewards, and to view and select exclusive offers they can use to receive discounts in any Kum&Go store.

Overview

Kum&Go needed a digital home for their &Rewards loyalty program — one that could turn a card-based rewards system into an engaging mobile experience. Working within Mobiquity's client services model, I led design for the Android app from proof-of-concept through app store delivery, while also contributing to iOS and responsive web flows. The work spanned user research, information architecture, visual design, and close collaboration with engineering and QA to ensure the experience held up through build. The result was a straightforward, campaign-ready app that gave customers a clear view of their rewards and offers, and gave Kum&Go a new channel for promotions and customer insights.

My contributions

Android platform design

Led the end-to-end design of the Android app, owning the experience from wireframes through final UI and overseeing design decisions throughout the development build.

Cross-platform design

Contributed iOS screens and responsive web flows alongside the Android work, ensuring a consistent experience across platforms.

Cross-functional collaboration

Worked closely with the project manager, server architects, developers, QA engineers, and the client to carry design decisions and product goals through to launch.

Design language & client partnership

Partnered with the client to develop a visual design language that balanced user needs with their marketing goals and brand identity.

Problem

Kum&Go is a Midwest convenience store chain competing in a crowded market where customer loyalty programs are a key driver of repeat visits. The existing &Rewards program lacked a digital home that made earning and redeeming rewards feel clear or motivating — customers had no easy way to track their progress, browse active offers, or understand the value they were accumulating.

The client needed an app that would bring the rewards program to life in a way that felt intuitive and worthwhile. The experience needed to give users a clear overview of the rewards they were earning, how far they were from their next reward, and the exclusive offers tied to current company campaigns and promotions — all without friction.

Process

Design & iteration

Our team iterated on designs and worked with the client to establish a design language that made sense for users as well as for their marketing goals. We worked with the development team to build this app from proof-of-concept to delivery to the app store. I oversaw the Android design and the design during the build process, while also working with the project manager, server architects, developers, QA engineers and the client to ensure design decisions and product goals were carried through to the final launch.

A key design challenge was making rewards progress feel tangible and motivating. We visualized each reward using a circular progress graph so users could see at a glance exactly how close they were to their next reward — making the program feel achievable rather than abstract. The offers section was designed to be campaign-flexible, accommodating Kum&Go's rotating promotions and marketing pushes without requiring structural changes each time.

Results

Our team developed a simple and straightforward interface with a powerful backend. Users were able to choose rewards, track their progress towards their rewards, and to receive exclusive offers through an intuitive and refined interface. Meanwhile, the client was able to promote products, share marketing messages and campaigns, and to analyze the purchasing habits and behaviors of their customers.
