I work as a counselor and teacher at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communication’s Summer Journalism Institute. The five-day camp hosts 100 high school students with an interest in writing, editing, yearbook, photography, video production and web production. I design the tee shirts, name tags, and branding for each year’s campers. I drew the illustrations that were used on the tee shirts, the name tags, the door signs and the schedule for 2009.
I designed several feature stories and department pages for Mocha Bride, a magazine based out of San Francisco.
I designed several corporate pieces for Anvil Knitwear, Inc. under The Cortina Agency. Here are marketing promotional pieces for a keynote presented by the CEO, Anthony Corsano, as well as one of the slides from the presentation that I also designed. I also did the layout and design for their Responsible Production & Ethical Sourcing manual.
I designed the logo and branding for Whiteberry, a frozen yogurt chain based out of Sarasota, Florida. I also designed several print pieces for the company.
That Girl! magazine was the capstone project in a semester-long study in magazine management. Under the guidance of Betty Cortina (former editor of Latina magazine, O, The Oprah Magazine and People en Español), the class conceptualized and developed the magazine, complete with research and development, a business plan and a publication schedule. I was creative director for the project, and along with my classmates directed a photo shoot with several photographers working at multiple locations on a sprawling farm. The magazine won the 2008 AEJMC Student Magazine Contest for the Team Start-Up Magazine Project (read more in this article).
