My experience has been varied, but I’ve acquired a wealth of knowledge in each project I’ve been involved in. As an undergraduate student at the University of Florida’s College of Journalism and Communications, I learned the magazine business under professors who were experienced in the industry — namely Ted Spiker, contributing editor to Men’s Health, and Betty Cortina, former Editor-in-chief of Latina magazine.

In both my educational and professional experience, I have directed and coordinated photo shoots, worked closely with photographers on finding the perfect editorial angle for stories, and have searched the outer regions of the stock photo world to find the perfect shot. I’ve led the art direction for feature stories, marketing campaigns and entire magazines. I am also intimately familiar with the production process, having spent over a year working in book publishing, where one of my main job components included preparing files for press. I am a perfectionist, and am continually striving to produce and prepare a flawless publication.

I’ve also made posters, tee shirts, web panels, corporate responsibility reports, employee manuals, fliers, designed books from cover to cover, created illustrations, logos, notebooks and packaging. My laundry list may come across as unfocused, but I assure you — the thread that binds all of these experiences is my unwavering love of design and the creative process. A full-time design job isn’t enough for me — I publish a design blog, manage several freelance projects and am always volunteering to help friends and family with birth announcements, wedding invitations and calling cards. I simply cannot get enough.
